Case Study: Unified Sales & Analytics Transformation

The Challenge

A global consumer brand was struggling with fragmented reporting processes.

Sales data lived in multiple legacy systems across different regions, forcing teams to rely on manually maintained spreadsheets. This created inefficiencies, inconsistent KPIs, and limited visibility into daily sales performance.

Key pain points included:

  • Multiple disconnected systems (legacy ERP, SQL-based finance, and cloud data lakehouse).
  • Manual Excel reporting consuming hours daily.
  • Inconsistent business rules (pricing, product classifications, financial KPIs).
  • Limited ability to perform consolidated analysis across brands, customers, and regions.

The Solution

Together with stakeholders across multiple departments, we delivered a unified enterprise analytics solution in Microsoft Power BI, consolidating data from three systems into a single source of truth

Highlights of the solution:

  • Stakeholder engagement across sales, finance, marketing, and IT to capture requirements.
  • Secure integration of three disparate systems into one consolidated model.
  • Hybrid data architecture with master dimensions and bridging tables to harmonize hierarchies.
  • 100+ advanced DAX measures for dynamic sales, pricing, and financial KPIs.
  • Automated refresh processes with robust gateway configurations.
  • Branded dashboards with intuitive drilldowns and consistent UX across business units.

The Impact

  • Eliminated manual Excel reporting, saving hours daily.
  • Integrated three systems into a single source of truth for the first time.
  • Enabled daily visibility across all business units.
  • Improved accuracy of key financial metrics.
  • Empowered leadership with consolidated insights for strategic decision-making.

My Role

This project required me to step into multiple roles such as business analyst, data engineer, modeler, developer, and infrastructure coordinator. I mastered unfamiliar technologies, solved complex product reclassification challenges, and delivered an enterprise-scale BI solution largely solo.

Why It Matters

 This case study demonstrates:

  • Full ownership of a complex analytics solution.
  • Ability to work across business, IT, and international teams.
  • Strong technical depth and resilience.
  • Leadership in BI solution delivery.
